About the Canon Arizona 1360 XT
The Arizona 1360 XT is a true flatbed UV-LED printer — meaning it prints directly onto rigid sheets and objects laid flat on the bed, rather than feeding material through rollers. It uses piezoelectric printheads with variable droplet technology, jetting ink drops as small as 6 picolitres for smooth gradients and fine detail, and as large as 30 picolitres for dense, even colour — all at resolutions of 1,440dpi and above.
For braille and 2.5D work, the printer runs a multi-pass layering process: instead of a single flat pass of ink, it prints the same area repeatedly with precise registration, building real, measurable height straight up off the substrate — up to around 2mm — rather than faking texture with a printed highlight or shadow. Combined with UV-LED curing, each layer sets instantly, so the build-up stays sharp and stable rather than slumping or spreading.

What is 2.5D printing?
2.5D printing (also called elevated or tactile printing) builds real, measurable height directly out of the print surface by layering multiple passes of ink, rather than printing a flat image that only looks textured. It isn't a fully 3D printed object — it's built on top of a flat substrate — but the print itself becomes genuinely raised, up to around 2mm in height.
Is your braille signage compliant with Australian accessibility standards?
Yes — for tactile signage we produce Grade 1 braille alongside raised lettering and pictograms to the height, spacing and contrast requirements needed for DDA and AS1428 compliant wayfinding and amenity signage.
Can you really reproduce the brushstrokes of a painting?
Yes — this is one of the most striking applications of the Arizona's multi-layer printing. We scan or photograph an original painting at high resolution, then use the printer's raised-ink layering to physically recreate the paint's surface texture — the ridge of a palette-knife stroke, the direction of a brush pass — so the printed piece looks and feels like the original up close.
How much raised height can the Canon Arizona 1360 XT print?
Up to around 2mm of raised height, built up through multiple precisely registered ink passes — enough for confidently legible braille and pronounced tactile texture without needing a separate fabrication process.
What surfaces can braille and 2.5D printing be applied to?
Because it's a true flatbed printer, we can print raised texture directly onto rigid substrates like ACM, acrylic, timber and MDF, up to 50mm thick — no separate laminate or overlay required.
