Signage that looks great in Melbourne or Sydney doesn't always hold up in Perth. Western Australia's UV index regularly hits extreme levels from October through March, and coastal areas from Fremantle to Mandurah add salt air corrosion into the mix. Choosing the right substrate and ink system from the start makes the difference between a sign that lasts a decade and one that fades within two years.
ACM (Aluminium Composite Material) is our most-recommended substrate for external WA signage. Direct UV printing directly onto ACM eliminates the laminate layer that peels in heat — a common failure point for signs printed elsewhere and laminated with cheaper materials. For coastal installs, we specify marine-grade fixings and sealant as standard.
Cast vinyl outperforms calendered vinyl in WA conditions every time. Cast vinyl conforms around curves without shrinking, maintains colour fidelity under sustained UV, and carries an outdoor durability rating of 7–10 years versus 3–5 for budget calendered products. For vehicle wraps and any long-term external graphics, cast is the only grade we recommend.
